His Zapping which he called "Zaparooni" in which he claimed to be taking people to God (like god is a destination) was in truth induced by giving people LSD. I know the person who supplied the acid. Being worthy of receiving zaparooni was a carrot he held out to keep attracting people and keep them there. All the early sharings were about receiving Zaparooni from John and experiencing expanded states. It was a secret that it was LSD. He would give you acid, read from the tibetan book of the dead and play the Moody Blues. Kind of like the wizard in the wizard of Oz.

-At the time I knew him, he wasn't doing that, tho LSD was still in vogue at the time. If he did that, it seems logical that it was to get the person to be more open. He knew he could transmit enlightened awareness, and I know for a fact that he could do that and you could transcend without the LSD (my experience). And I knew others of his students who had transcended permanently, whether they had LSD I didn't know, it never occurred to me that this was going on and may not have been at that time.

-I really don't think he wanted to "keep them with him", he wanted them to transcend.

LSD and Zapperooni

Well, that's the smoking gun, ain't it! You wouldn't want to identify yourself, I suppose, though. I started to suspect this after a number of years of dangled zapperooni's in front of my nose that never materialized.

Just want to chime in that I also have some pretty solid information that this was in fact true. Early zaparooni cycles do seem to have been acid induced, without the participants knowledge. And brother Don, you may have been long gone, but he did use this as a carrot for years to keep people around. Would say it was coming and then literally scream at rooms full of people about how insincere we were and that's why he couldnt get it up, so to speak. I know several people who have been haunted by thinking God ignored their pleas for this kind of experience...

Also seems to be the case that some of those early 80s UFO encounters, when he was just with one or two people, may have been acid induced. Talked to one person who had one of those spaceship experiences that was held up as proof of John's divinity and power, and she remembers apple juice, 8 hours of experience and him verbally guiding the whole journey. She also said she felt awful about the fact that she exagguarated greatly at his request when reporting back to all of us. Can't be sure but sounds like LSD and lies to me.

I did however also have some very powerful, nondrug induced experiences during those years. Though I also had those long before I met John and long after I left his group. When I told him about mystical things that happened to me as a child, he would always say that was him, getting me ready to hang out with him. I'm sure anything that I still experience he would explain as me still being in his aura. Quite the capacity for taking credit where its not due.

One question: how do you think he validated the acid thing to himself? do people think he knew he was lying or just totally self deluded?
